I was considering getting a Verizon MiFi and sharing it with my 3 friends while at SXSW Music. Contract aside, the cost is almost a wash. In theory, the 5 connection limit would not be a big deal, since we wouldn't be on the laptops AND the iPhones at the same time. I note that there's only ~9 Boingo hotspots in the vicinity of 6th street though, not enough for seamless coverage which you'd get (in theory) with the MiFi.
